Floofin' in March

IS THAT SPRING? I think I hear it calling!

The snowdrops are nearly over, the tulips are nearly in full bloom. And despite the rain, snow (?!), and lower temperatures … I think it’s safe to say spring is here. The clocks went forward on Mother’s Day, an unwanted surprise to say the least, but the more sunlight in the evenings is an absolute Godsend. It makes me feel so hopeful!

The vibe last week

I had a deliciously sell-out on Sunday 27th March, which was mothering Sunday. I find mother’s day such an odd day to promote. I know how hard it is for a good majority of people, and how much I struggle with mother’s day because of the need for perfection. I know growing up Mother’s Day was about spending time with your family and gifts and sometimes going way overboard, but my mother was diagnosed with M.E a few years ago and doesn’t have the energy for it. So, we sit and talk in her bed with a cup of tea and let her drift into sleep as she so needs. It’s quieter for sure, so I can sort of imagine the soft yearning when mothers aren’t around anymore, being a mother is difficult and the notion of the perfect mother is just impossible. Nevertheless, it’s so gorgeous to take the day and celebrate the lives of women, mother figures, and anyone who shows maternal/ parental guidance to you.

Wedding At Kew Gardens

It was such a beautiful wedding to be a part of. So much so, that I want to do it all over again. We wanted to mimic the flowers outside and bring them indoors and make them a bit more… wedding-y. Frothy Ammi, delightful tulips, bulging daffs, scented narcissi, the start of sweetpeas, billowing lilac, and lots and lots of other seasonal gifts. All situated around yellow and ream tapered candles, surrounded by huge urns filled with almond and cherry blossom and this year’s viburnum. It was such a delight to celebrate with K & R, and then turn all the flowers into mini bouquets at the end of the night. I had a most exquisite team, which made such a difference. Pik your freelancers wisely, they make the world of difference!

For Someone That Thinks They Work All The Time…

I, in fact, managed to soot off to Paris with my beloved and have FOUR days away from the doglette and London. Don’t get me wrong resuing Bozzy (our 7 year staffi x American bulldog) has been a dream but has definitely been hard at times. And London, well I’m from this city so I know how intense it gets… and weirdly going to another big city really helped! And… IT WAS SUNNY. I had to wear sunglasses… SUCH A TREAT!

We pootled around st Germaine, drank in the Latin quarter, meandered in Montmartre, and just ate so much that Anthony Bourdain would have been proud. It was nice to practice my french too, turns out that Parisiennes don’t all speak English or if they do they were happy for me to struggle along (although, I did feel pretty cool asking for everything in my broken French. My boyfriend speaks no french at all, so he was looking at me like I was someone utterly desirable like.. Amelie?). Anyway, got some floral snaps as well as a few cringe selfies. But it’s okay, that’s what we do abroad, right?

coming up…

April brings the start of the gorgey wedding season! I am so excited! It also brings the annual Scotland trip with my dad, we walk a certain trail in Scotland and try not to argue too much, but it’s such precious time together. And also April brings EASTER! I’ve got some easter bouquets AND blossom bunches on the webshop… so you can book those to be delivered on Good Friday to you and/ or loved ones. All filled with spring delights from the fabulous local growers and farms!
