Floofin' in Feb

What has gone on?

Hello sweet ones! I am always so shocked when another Floofin’ comes about- time just whizzes past and trying to cram all the things I’ve done AND felt in the last few weeks always seems a struggle. But a great way to journal my happenings, and for everyone to see how Garage is growing, changing or the like.

I just LOVED making the valentine’s day bouquets! I started a new floral journey this year, and enrolled onto a course that helps florists reach their goals- and mine was to NOT BURN OUT, as well as start learning about how I can further my career with floristry economically (that’s just me trying to say, make some money!). So, this year’s action plan to make only a certain number of bouquets, and buy the flowers accordingly and i don’t have to sacrifice on quality or my seasonal ethos is wonderful! And it worked! So thank you to all who ordered, I hope you loved them as much as I loved making them!

For the Mamma’s

Firstly, if mother’s Day is triggering for you then please do skip this section of the blog. I’m so sorry if this has affected you negatively, my intention is always only positive and to be gentle.

This year’s Mother’s Day is only around the corner and I’ve created a bouquet/ arrangement that I know my mother would LOVE, and also if I received this bouquet, I’d be thrilled too. It’s not too pastel-y or too bright, it’s stuffed full of seasonal goods and as always I will try and use as many locally sourced flowers in my ingredients as possible! I’m only making a certain number, so again- once they’re gone, they’re gone! See image below for a little peek!

They’re available online now to purchase, and I’ll be making a donation from the profit to VOICES OF CHILDREN, who help children with psychological and physiological trauma from fleeing their homes in Ukraine.

A WEDDING AFFAIR

Another new thing for 2022, I took part in a wedding fair. It is called The Un-Wedding Show and is for suppliers and couples looking for a less ordinary wedding. Meeting so many gorgeously sweet and talented suppliers made me realise getting all worked up about my stand months before was kind of worth it. I filled my stand with nearly all British-only flowers (I added Icelandic poppies) and plants and created a photo opportunity stand. You could pop your head through the holes, and look like a newlywed couple going off on their honeymoon! I was the only fully British flower stand, and I was super chuffed. Promoting more sustainable and eco-friendly flower methods and ethos’! I do want to do another wedding fair, but I will be looking towards the ones that are more focused on sustainable, plastic-free and eco-friendly-minded suppliers.

What’s coming up?

I’m in the midst of trying to buy all my ingredients for a gorgeously seasonal wedding next week at KEW GARDENS. It’s a favourite venue to decorate, because … well it’s Kew. But also it’s especially wonderful because the bride wanted the inside to match the outside on the grounds, so there’s a lot of blossom, narcissus, daffodils, magnolia, tulips and lots more!

Working on a fair few mini projects, as well as getting myself onto my level 3 counselling course to start in September. So, as always it’s all systems go. I want to remember that I really enjoy my job, and I really love being a florist who cares about the impact they have on people, the environment and on myself. I tend to get really stressed because I find it hard to focus on all the things I have to do, so I’ve started writing gentle lists at the beginning of each week to help me sort my days. I found not having a day off was really affecting me. So far, this system is helping a bit, but if you have any ways that help you focus and set your week up so you dont go into panic mode, please do let me know! I’m all grand, just I think I let it all get on top of me! Plus seeing all those beautiful people having to flee Ukraine in order to find safety is just so overwhelming, so I can really see why (yes, in sucha privileged position because we are safe here) the news is affecting us negatively. Thoughts?

A QUICK THOUGHT

At the end of the wedding show, we were told about an amazing company who turns your old flowers into confetti! They are based in Tooting and just seem absolutely amazing! Don’t forget to dry your flowers out yourself if you can- cut their stems, tie them at the bottom of their stems, and hang them upside down for at least a week. But if you’ve got a moment then head to CONFETTI CLUB to see what they do!
