APRIL 2023

THE WEATHER

Typically British way to start a conversation, but honestly we have had the wettest March. 8th wettest on record in London ever! The flower farmers have been willing for the weather to get better because all of the bulbs just weren’t budging. However, Spring is pushing through. We are finally seeing the start of all the daffodils, ranunculus and THE TULIPS. oh man, tulip season has me feeling all types of giddy because it’s just so good now! We have so many varieties! It makes for the most incredible season- I just love watching them unfurl.

YELLOWS & REDS

I had a wedding on April 1st and this time last year we were fully into Spring. We have bluebells, even sweetpeas! This year because of the cold and wet, we didn’t have as much. As I approached the wedding I worried I wasn’t able to get all the seasonal stems I was hoping for. However, thankfully the week coming up to the wedding two growers started filling buckets with abundance of gorgeous Forsythia, blossom, stunning daffodils, tulips and wonderful planted primula, pansies and scented herbs. I was luck enough to be given a fairly fun brief of yellows and reds. So we hit the nail on the head- heave a look below for a few images of the day!

Farewells

As well as going into a busy month, which is so exciting, I have also added another page to my website. The last year or I have had the absolute privilege of working on funerals for friends and family. Recently, I have been asked for funeral arrangements from clients and felt this was something i should add to the website so you can all see what beautiful things I make. The joy of creating funeral arrangements, is that it’s such a meaningful process. I work so closely with the client and their family, creating personal, beautiful and completely eco friendly pieces that steer away a little from the incredibly sombre, traditional floral arrangements.

I’d love for you to take a look at let me know what you think. Organising a funeral is just so incredibly difficult that maybe it’s just easier to see a picture and choose florals that way, or maybe it’s more personal and unique this way- getting in contact with me. I think it’s so cathartic having a conversation and discussing the funeral more personally, but I know that it is absolutely each to their own. The main thing is making something beautiful for the person who has passed, and expressing them through the floral arrangement.

WHAT’S COMING UP

It’s safe to say that this line of work is keeping me on my toes. I feel I am always one email away from either having a breakdown or having the best day, i guess I love the rush! But honestly, I am so lucky that I get to work with such wonderful people and have some incredibly trusting and wonderful clients! This month we have a couple more weddings as well as a REALLY exciting event, and hopefully another one in the bag too!

Keep following my instagram for more updates- I promise to be better at social media. Or do I? Either way, I’ll try and stay in contact!

DON’T FORGET TO TREAT YOURSELF THIS MONTH- IT’S SPRING AFTER ALL!
